Presumably, the Atacama Desert was taken as the basis for the Call of Duty: Warzone 2 map

The GhostOfHope insider, based on the information he knows about Call of Duty: Warzone 2, suggested that the prototype for the new map was the Atacama Desert, located on the western coast of South America in Chile. In turn, other insiders began to confirm this information, claiming that this year we will still see a map with a sand theme.

Last November, insider RalphsValve revealed that the Call of Duty: Warzone 2 map was being developed with a focus on the multiplayer maps from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and would have a sand theme, which in recent days are so actively confirmed by other members of the Call of Duty insider community.

In an interview with The Washington Post a year ago, Infinity Ward creative director Patrick Kelly stated that the original concept for the original Call of Duty: Warzone was to be Kabul (the capital of Afghanistan), but for some reason this idea was later abandoned. It is possible that the developers, when creating a new map, use the developments and game assets produced during the initial development stage of the original Call of Duty: Warzone.

According to rumors, this map will also be used for the third mode of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II", which for some reason was attributed to the new iteration of "Call of Duty: Warzone" in a recent official blog. Does this mean that the "Sandbox" mode (as it was called on the official blog), which, according to several sources, is an analogue of "Escape from Tarkov" and "Hazard Zone", will receive a shareware distribution model in the market? Not yet known.
